🐝 Buzz to the stars with this FREE no-sew bee pattern! 🐝
Hey Cosmic Crafters! 🌟
It’s Mal from Cosmic Crochet, and I’m so excited to share my first FREE pattern in my first blog post with you: the No-Sew Bee! This little bee is 100% sewing free, beginner-friendly and a perfect pattern for market prep, gifts or just a cute desk buddy or bag charm. If you're feeling festive you can always substitute the colors for something seasonal! The possibilities are endless!
In this pattern I also share my color change techniques so that your lines stay straight! No more zig-zags when changing colors every other row.
You are welcome and encouraged to sell and gift your final products but please do not sell the pattern itself as it took a lot of work to create. If you love this bee and make some please tag me on Instagram with your plushies so I can see your final products!!!
Without further ado.... it's bee pattern time!
Stitches, shorthand, and pattern information:
St – stitch
Sc – single crochet
hdc - half double crochet
dc - double crochet
slst – slip stitch
Dec – invisible decrease
Inc – 2 single crochet into 1 stitch
MR – magic ring
BLO – back loop only
() – indicates number of stitches in round
#x[] – repeat inside of [] # many times.
** ** - indicate sections of the pattern with assembly and other instructions.
Invisible Decrease: In front loops only insert your hook into the first stitch, insert your hook into the next stitch and yarn over, pull through two stitch loops, yarn over and pull through all loops.
Color Change Technique: On the stitch before you want to begin your color change do not finish your sc (you should have 2 loops on your hook). Grab your new color and pull up your final loop of this st with the new color. Secure your ends together. For the first st with the new color, sc in the back loop only and continue as normal until you reach the first stitch of the round where you went into the BLO. Go into that unworked front loop from the previous round and complete your sc. That's it, no more zig-zaggy color changes!
General Pattern Advice: I recommend using a hook 1.5-2mm smaller than the packaged recommendation for all amigurumi projects to reduce any chance of stuffing popping out.
You will need a small amount of each color yarn, polyfil, scissors, a stitch marker, and a hook (size dependent on your yarn choice)!
This pattern worked in the round and written with US terms. It is designed to be worked in any weight/gauge yarn and no gauge is necessary. Changing your hook size and yarn thickness will change the final size of your plushy!

**Add safety eyes between round 2 and 3, 3 stitches apart. Embroider blush 1 stitch long below the eyes if desired**

**I usually like to make the wings now because it is easier to tie the wings ends**
Rd13: 6x[sc, dec] (12)
**Begin stuffing, careful not to overstuff.**
Rd14: 6x[dec] (6)
Wings (make 2)
The wings are surface crocheted directly onto the body! Make sure your wings are centered correctly with the face and place them on round 8 of the body. Crochet the right wing with the face facing you and the left wing with the face facing away from you.
**Pull up a loop and make sure to leave a tail. **
Ch1, hdc, dc, hdc, slst all into the same stitch.
**Fasten off a leave a tail so you can tie the tails together to secure the wing and hide the ends.**
